Soapbox from Jayant KG5LJZ
Beautiful Parks on the Air (POTA) Sunday at the Sheldon Lakes State Park US-3056 with my mentor and friend AB5SS. We worked digital modes (great pile up on 20m and 17m) followed by CW (Morse Code) on 17m and 20m. Temperatures started in the low 70s and got hotter by noon. We had a great time connecting with fellow radio enthusiasts.
Technical specs- Yaesu 891, vertical antenna and portable power battery park.

Thanks Dave! We used the Yaesu FT-891 with a DigiRig interface for Digital modes and switched to the Elecraft K3S and KX1 for CW contacts. Not a single SSB QSO attempted :). The JPC-12 vertical antenna performed very well, as usual.
Thanks David – It was a blast working at US-3056 – FT8 gave us the park in 21 minutes FLAT – all 11 QSOs thrpough a huge pile up. CW on 17m was not bad either and the KX1 at 2W was great (portable angled key took some training and KG5LJZ messing up X and P did not help (dit dah dah dit and dah dit dit dah).
Ha Ha – Practice away!!!
Dave – it was my FIRST POTA as a GRANDPA!!!
