KG5URA Teaches Morse Code

Despite the government shutdown which has shuttered our regular JSCARC/Student Ham Radio schedule, David KG5URA is hosting a Morse Code study hall event to keep some of our interns engaged with our hobby.

David has sought and received special no-charge teaching modules from Stan K7SBF at the Long Island CW Club (LICW) for special use to conduct an abbreviated Morse Code lesson plan.  He’s kicked off this activity on Monday and plans to keep it up weekly for awhile during the shutdown.

Kudos to KG5URA to provide this offering in compliance with the shutdown restrictions imposed during this time.

Handed out the flash drives and I took them through two sessions.  Then gave them a lesson on handling the key properly and had them each practice keying the characters they learned.  KMR and SUA.  We’re meeting again next Monday to review the first two lessons and do the third lesson.  Then we’ll follow up the next Monday with a review and practice putting words together.
